The world's longest wooden stairs - 4444 steps Race!
Where: Forsand
When: August 19th
The race starts by running the world's longest wooden stairs with 4444 steps - 1,6 km long, 741 m up, and with up to 50 degrades sharp climb. The race is in Lysefjorden in the neighbourhood to Preikestolen and Kjerag. The race is 10 km, 1800 height meters.
Tripp Trapp Triathlon. A competition on land, on water -  and almost airborne!

This challenging triathlon by the Lysefjord features: 25 km kayaking from Oanes to Flørli. Then there are the 4444 steps and 740 meters uphill from Flørli. Followed by 12 km hike to Vindalen and finally 30 km cycling back to Oanes.
Stavanger Marathon

This summer’s greatest run celebration! Stavanger Marathon is organised by athletics club GTI Friidrettsklubb. One day with many race options. Stavanger Marathon has its start and finish at the square outside Stavanger Cathedral. The church is the oldest cathedral in Norway and from the first half of the 1100s. With great variation in length and route the Stavanger Marathon festival of running provides a challenge suitable for all!

ACTIVE 2017 - Hike to Kjerag!

Please sign up for this truly amazing hike and embrace the opportunity to meet new people! Kjerag is one of the most famous hikes in Norway, located in Ryfylke, 1084 m. This is a chance to experience the breath-taking, natural beauty that Norway has to offer!
We meet at the train station in Stavanger at 08.45 where a rented bus will take us all the way, stopping only in Sandnes (Ruten) at 09:20 to pick up the remaining passengers. We park at Øygardstølen and the Kjerag Restaurant. The hike will be approximately 2.5 hours each way, with some extra time on top for lunch and photos. The bus returns from Øygardstøl at 18:00 and will be back in Stavanger around 20:30. INN Expats will provide experienced guides. If some of you are not able to make it all the way to the top we will make sure you are having a good time at the Kjerag restaurant enjoying the amazing view.

Forests in Norway are real treasures if you like mushrooms. The wet summers give excellent conditions for mushrooms, and the forests are usually full of them. Do you want to pick mushrooms but not sure which ones are edible? Then join us in this informative trip where we will try to find mushrooms and learn more about them.

Rail tricycling
Where: Figvedveien, 4332 Figgjo

Experience rail tricycling at the old Aalgaard-line. Great fun for the whole family! Two directions available. Figgjo - Foss-Eikeland and Figgjo - Aalgaard. Figgjo - Aalgaard is reserved for "drop-in" guests and takes approximately 40-50 minutes to cycle. Bike-helmet required. Bring your own or loan one for free from us.
Ride to Uburen, Forsand
Where: Fossanmoen, 4110 Forsand
When: August 5th, 8th - 9th, 11th -  12th and 19th
Join us on a spectacular ride trip to the top of Uburen.
For the trip to Uburen, our instructors will find you a hat and a suitable horse. Then you will be given information about the trip and shown how to handle your horse.
The first part of the ride takes place on the road. This gives time for both rider and horse to warm up before entering the hillier terrain. The trail is steep, rocky and long. You will straight away appreciate the talent an Icelandic horse has in such a challenging environment. Once on top the lands flattens out and at 400 metres above the fjord you get the feeling of the high mountains.
Guided bike tour, Swords in Rock

Provider: Rogaland Aktiv. The guide will meet you outside the Stavanger train station at 10:00 am. From the Stavanger city centre, we will be heading towards the beautiful Mosvatnet lake. Along the lake, you will experience rich bird life and nice surroundings. Can you imagine that it lives 143 different birds around the water?  When arriving at the three swords in rock (Sverd i fjell) at Møllebukta bay, we will spend plenty of time walking around taking photos. You will probably see a lot of birds, as well as white swans and ducks.
The Monastery tour

The area around Fjøløy and the Utstein monastery, offers many kayaking adventures, from open sea to idyllic archipelago. Rogaland Aktiv will take you on a tour you'll most likely never forget, through canals, in open sea and through lakes.

The panoramic tour

A bike tour to the Ullandhaugtårnet will give you view of the city and surrounding areas and nice tour through the forest at the same time.  A short visit to the botanical garden near the tower is included and of course a visit to the Iron Age farm.
Paddling in Stavanger's archipelago for beginners

The English-speaking guide and instructor will take you through this wonderful landscape of small islands and reefs, staying close to land. The length of the journey is adjusted to your skills. As on all our kayak trips, wildlife is stunning. You will see a lot of birds, and if you are lucky, we can see seal and mink. Close to shore, underneath your kayak, you can explore the seafloor. If you paddle very quietly, you might see some fish and crabs. When finishing the kayak trip, back at Kalvoy, we will gather around the fireplace, in a cosy wooden cabin. A nice hot meal will be served from the kitchen.
Tourist car ferry at Lysefjorden
