Eurosurf 2017

When: October 7th - October 16th

The European Championship at Jæren - Eurosurf takes place at the Jæren beaches. Come and see Europe's best surfers in the waves along the Jæren coast. We are pleased to announce that ISA, EFT Eurosurf 2017 will be organised in Stavanger, Norway! This is the first time ISA EFT Eurosurf will be organised in Scandinavia. All the members of the Eurosurf countries are most welcome to the exotic north of Europe to surf and compete in the cool waters of Norway.

This is your opportunity to learn orienteering using the compass and the map! Might be a very useful skill to have also when out hiking longer trails.


ACTIVE 2017 - Join us for Geocaching!

There are millions of geocaches hidden around the world—there are probably some near you right now. Geocaching is another way to discover new aspects of Stavanger. Like orienteering, but more fun. Do you like to play squash? Or would you like to try? Join us for a squash game with our ACTIVE 2017 guides. We will meet at Toppform Training Center in Tasta for one-hour squash game. Have not played squash before? No worries, we will be provided the equipment and a brief introduction about the game.

Guided riding on Icelandic horses

Where: Kvernelandsveien 117, 4323 Sandnes

When: March 22nd – December 16th (*Riding trip every Saturday, and week days during School holidays)

Would you like to experience the robust Icelandic horse? Join us on a trip! We arrange riding trips divided after different riding levels every Saturday the whole year. We also arrange riding trips during week days in School holidays like Winter holiday, Easter Holiday, Summer Holiday and Fall Holiday. During the School year, we have Riding School. Guided bike tour, Swords in Rock

Where: Strandkaien 61, 4006 Stavanger

When: March 31st – November 1st (Monday – Friday 09:00 – 12:00)

Provider: Rogaland Aktiv. The guide will meet you outside the Stavanger train station at 10:00 am. From the Stavanger city centre, we will be heading towards the beautiful Mosvatnet lake. Along the lake, you will experience rich bird life and nice surroundings.  When arriving at the three swords in rock (Sverd i fjell) at Møllebukta bay, we will spend plenty of time walking around taking photos. You will probably see a lot of birds, as well as white swans and ducks. We would recommend bringing some money for snacks that you can buy at the snack and ice cream truck located here, called Is Paradis. They have tasty dishes, whether you want a burger or a sweet pastry.

Explore the fjord – Full day trip – Intermediates

Where: Strandkaien 61, 4006 Stavanger

When: April 1st – November 1st

Activity provider: Rogaland Aktiv. The English-speaking guide will meet you outside the tourist information in Stavanger (Strandkaien 61) at 9:45 am and walk you to the highspeed vessel. 10 minutes walking. This 30 minutes ferry ride is quite an adventure. The boat moors at several islands before ending up at Kalvøy, the destination and starting place for the kayak trip. At Kalvøy, the guide will take you to a place for changing into a dry suit. All depending on the weather, however, you will most likely have to wear a dry suit when entering the kayak.


Guided bike tour to the black cave

Where: Viste, Havørnbrautene 52 c, 4049 Hafrsfjord

When: April 1st – November 1st

As many of our bike tours, this is a must.

The cave, probably formed during the last ice age, is almost 9 m deep, 5 m wide and 3 m high. The first people settled in here around 6000 BC, and used it during various periods up until the age of migration, around 500 AD. You can read about the Viste cave visiting this website:

This ride will take between 3-4 hours, depend of the group.


Rail tricycling

Where: Figvedveien, 4332 Figgjo

When: April 9th – October 15th (Sunday, 11:00 – 17:00)

Experience rail tricycling at the old Aalgaard-line. Great fun for the whole family! Two directions available. Figgjo - Foss-Eikeland and Figgjo - Aalgaard. Figgjo - Aalgaard is reserved for "drop-in" guests and takes approximately 40-50 minutes to cycle. Bike-helmet required. Bring your own or loan one for free from us.


Viking Tour Stavanger

Where: Strandkaien 61, 4005 Stavanger

When: April 24th – October 31st (Monday – Sunday)

The Vikings have conquered Hollywood and are now returning home to Norway. Join us and meet the Vikings! With the recent hit series like The History Channel’s «Vikings» and the BBC’s «The Last Kingdom», the popularity of all things Viking has exploded. We have embraced this popularity and will launch our brand-new Viking tour in May 2016.

Ryfylke Hike & Beer (day-trip) Outdoorlife Norway

Join Outdoorlife Norway on a 5-hour 'off the beaten track' hike to one of the region's most magnificent viewpoints, from atop Mount Reinaknuten. After an adventurous day of hiking, enjoy Ryfylke 'tapas' and sample locally-brewed craft beer at Lilland Brewery Hotel.


Guided hike to Pulpit Rock Preikestolen

Where: Husabergbakken 29B, 4032 Stavanger

When: June 21st – October 31st

Join our trip to Pulpit Rock, Preikestolen, one of Norway’s most beautiful trips.  The hike up starts from Preikestolen Lodge, and follows the track through beautiful nature. The hike is relative easy walking, but some more demanding parts. It’s when you reach the plateau, you understand why so many people hike up here. The view is spectacular and the hike up is worth the effort.


Guided hike to Lifjell

Where: Husabergbakken 29B, 4032 Stavanger

When: July 3rd – October 31st

Join our trip to Lifjell, the summit close to the city! This trip starts from Dale in Sandnes, and follows the track through varied nature to the top. The hike is relative easy walking, with some demanding parts. At the top, it’s possible to enjoy the view over this region largest city Stavanger, the northern part of Jæren, the North Sea and the islands in the fjord around Stavanger. We also offer this trip in an easy variant, which follows a dirt road to the top.  It’s also possible to order this trip as an afternoon hike.


Guided hike to Kjerag

Where: Husabergbakken 29B, 4032 Stavanger

When: July 2nd – October 31st

Join us on our hike to the majestic of Lysefjorden, the Kjerag bolt. With its 1020 metres over sea level, extends the plateau highest of the mountains in the area. That’s also why it’s called the majesty of Lysefjorden. The area is most famous for the Kjerag bolt, a 5 cubic metres big rock, which is wedged between a gorge in the mountain. Maybe you are one of the toughest, and dare to walk out and stand at the bolt, looking 1000 metres down to Lysefjorden? This is a relative demanding hike, which demands both physical condition and good equipment. The track up to the Kjerag bolt has several demanding parts, and some places requires easy climbing. Except of these parts, it’s a quite easy to hike.


Guided hike to Man waterfall

Join our trip to Månafossen, Rogaland county’s biggest waterfall with its 90 meters fall! Månafossen is one of the biggest touristattraction i Rogaland, an is the 7th biggest waterfall in Norway. After several great lookout points, we continue to the old mountain farm Mån, and let us inspire of the history from Mån.


Autumn Hike to Kjerag (day-hike)

Where: Ryfylkegata 13, 4014 Stavanger

When: September 1st – October 31st *7:00 – 18:30

Join Outdoorlife Norway on an autumn hike to Kjerag, and witness the magic of the season’s shifting colours and Norway’s crisp and cool mountain air. For many, the trip’s highlight is standing atop Kjerag’s famous boulder, but the trek also provides hikers with an abundance of breath-taking views over the Lysefjord. Snow, when present, contrasts splendidly with the flame-coloured foliage.  The hike to Kjerag is relatively demanding: you’ll trek 11 km (round-trip) with an ascent of 800 meters in approximately* 5.5 hours.


Autumn Hike to Preikestolen (day-hike)

Where: Ryfylkegata 13, 4014 Stavanger

When: October 16th – December 23rd *8:00 – 17:30

Join Outdoorlife Norway on an autumn hike to Preikestolen, and witness the magic of the season’s shifting colours and post-equinox daylight. Experience Norway’s crisp and cool mountain air while hiking on trails that were recently upgraded by Nepalese Sherpas, who "paved" the way using local stones. On an annual basis, Preikestolen welcomes more visitors than any other trekking-destination in Norway. In 2017, approximately 300,000 hikers are expected to make their way up to the top of the imposing cliff, which hangs 604 meters above the Lysefjord.
