Pepperkakebyen - a town made from gingerbread - moves to Norwegian Petroleum Museum this year. From December 3rd, you are welcome to experience the magic exhibition at the museum. Tickets are also valid to the other exhibitions at the museum. If you want to decorate the magic town, you can make your own decorations at the museum. Children under 12 years have free admission, adults kr. 100, students and pensioners kr. 50.

There are different ways to approach art. Plot/Stavanger invite people between 16 and 26 years to join a tour in the exhibitions at Kunsthall Stavanger together with curator Heather Jones. There will be serving of food and drinks afterwards and Heather will be answering whatever questions you may have about art and exhibitions. The exhibitions shown is “I Heard You laughing” and “Michael Bell-Smith”. Heather Jones is American and works as a curator at Kunsthall Stavanger. She´s also a part of the website Contemporary Art Stavanger that writes about art. The event is free, and the talk will be in English.

Christmas Town is an annual event in Egersund, that attracts crowds from all over the region. With the cosy wooden houses in the background, the event is the opposite of panic shopping and pre-Christmas stress. The warm atmosphere of Julebyen, created by the harmony of sounds, smells and tastes of the Christmas Town, will get you in the right mood. Held annually over two weekends, Thursday through Sunday. We offer free admission to the Christmas market and most concerts and events.

Friday, 8th December, the Humour House in Stavanger is filled with a quartet of brilliant comedians. Live Christmas with Zahid Ali, Christer Torjussen, Olav Svarstad Haugland and Sofie Frøysaa. Zahid Ali is a well-known face from both movies and television. As a comedian, he sets out with timing and improvisational skills in the top class. Christer Torjussen is a veteran in the subject who has received Komipris for best stand-up and recently visited the house with the "Dreamboard" solo show. Olav Svarstad Haugland has collaborated with Christian Michelsen in the improgruppa BM, and is a stand-up comedian on his way up. Sofie Frøysaa visited Stavanger earlier this year with her solo show, and has received great attention in the past year.

Angelina Jordan – Christmas

Angelina Jordan is only 11 years old. Despite her young age, since she won Norwegian Talents 2014 she has been taken notice of in most parts of the world. She performed in many international television programs. She was even invited to perform at the inauguration of President Trump, but she refused. Since she was very small, she has been busy with music, and especially jazz. The British newspaper Daily Mail has announced her to become the new Amy Winehouse. Angelina is still invited to bigger and smaller events at home and abroad, but has not held her own concerts. Now the time has come. In December she will give about 15 concerts in Norway. She has an eminent group with her, The Real Thing with Sigrid Brennhaug as vocalist. On Friday, December 8, she and her ensemble are ready to meet their audience at the Stavanger Concert Hall!

Santa’s Train in Egersund

First Saturday during the Christmas Fair in Egersund (Julebyen) everyone is getting ready for the great Santa train. All children and adults are encouraged to put on a Santa costume and meet up outside the arts school. Santa and his wife will arrive in a horse-drawn carriage ready to start the tour. Torches will be handed out to the adults before it starts at 16.00. A marching band will also be there to get you in the right Christmas mood. The train will go through the pedestrian area and in the end, the finest 'Santa' will be selected and awarded. You will also have a chance to get your face painted along the way.

It is for the first time that our own Hilde Selvikvåg is on the stage in Zetlitz of Stavanger Concert Hall. Over a short period of time a young artist from Jæren has achieved great success with the Spellemann's nomination of her debut album in 2015, followed by three major radio hits: "Karu-sell", "Indie" and "Janei". She conveys her texts on a resounding Jæren dialect with genuine feelings and closeness just as she can only do it. Her songs appeal to both vulnerable and strong, none leaving the concert by Hilde unaffected. In other words, this is a concert for the entire emotional range.

Cross country skiing is deeply rooted in Norwegian culture and a sure recipe for fun! INN Expats welcome you to an introduction to all sorts of skiing and winter activities. Race manager of local Sirdal Skimaraton, Lars Vagle, will teach you everything from ski types, snowboards, ski waxing, ski technique and give you lots of practical tips. Including what is the proper clothing for winter sports and what is the correct equipment for you. Balance is all important when skiing, so you´ll can test out balance abilities as well. Sledges and ice skating are winter activities too. You'll receive directions to some nice areas for practice and where you can enjoy nature at the same time. Maybe this will be your next hobby?

A unique chance to visit a modern brewery in Stavanger! A guided tour of the facilities explains the process of beer making, and you do all the tasting! Lervig Aktiebryggeri was established as a company in 2003 and their modern brewery in Stavanger opened in 2005. Their products are sold in all of Norway and the brewery has a large production capacity. Total volume through the year is around 650.000 liters and the number of employees are 14. On this visit you will learn about Lervig's history, beer production, Lervig products and will also taste samples.

Every Christmas for more than ten years, the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad has arranged the gingerbread house town in Stavanger. This year the town is about to rise at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. Join us on December 14th for a visit to this magical gingerbread town build with skill and passion by Stavanger residents.We meet at 10:00 am in front of the Norwegian Oil Museum (Kjeringholmen 1A, 4006 Stavanger), buy a ticket and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere :-)

Glasskjellaren is a combined workshop, showroom and shop located on a beautiful farm in the small village of Bjørheimsbygd near Tau and The National Tourist Route Ryfylke. Exhibition and sale of handmade glassware, jewellery, candle holders etc produced by Astrid Vadla Ravnås. She uses a technique called 'fusing', which can be traced back at least 3500 years.  Groups and workshop by prior appointment.

The exhibition «Alle gode ting er tre» (All good things are wood) displays the Sandnes' rich furniturehistory from 1870 – 1970.
The production of furniture in Sandnes blossomed in the early 1900s, and became one of the main industries of the town. The exhibition documents the development of the industry, the production processes, the product development and the working environment in the furniture industry and displays a wide range of furniture produced in Sandnes that a lot of visitors will recognise from their own or their grandparent’s homes.

Dark Side of the Moon - Nathalie Djurberg og Hans Berg
Where: Stavanger Art Museum

In 2009, Swedish Nathalie Djurberg (born 1978) and Hans Berg (born 1978) were drawn among the most promising young artists in the Venice Biennale, and their large installation The Experiment made an indelible impression on the audience. By using music, animation and characters, they created a surreal, scary and psychologically charged version of the garden of Eden. Together, Djurberg and Berg have developed a distinctive art that problematises basic drives and instincts such as jealousy, revenge, greed and desire.
